About the Campaign

The Path to Pardon Campaign supports Sithy and Laura’s fight to remain with their families and communities, as well as their leadership to seek pardons and justice for all who need them. We urge Governor Newsom to use his pardon power to restore the lives of people still harmed by the criminal legal system.  We must fight to clear the path towards liberation.

Together, we're advocating not only for pardons for Laura and Sithy, but for a transformation to the pardon system that will bring justice and true freedom to everyone in our communities. We're calling on Governor Newsom to use his pardon power to restore people’s lives and to liberate them from the ongoing harms of the criminal legal system.

Sithy Bin and I have been fighting to remain in our homes and not be double punished after not only serving our debt to society, but making every effort to give back to our communities in multiple ways. WE are fighting not only for our own liberation, but for the collective liberation of all our people. By bringing awareness to the Pardon process in California, we hope to not just achieve our ultimate freedom but to bust down the door for others like us to have success and also gain their freedom!

Did you know?

  • For many Californians, a gubernatorial pardon is the only way to avoid deportation.

  • Deportation is double punishment – the Californians who face deportation for their convictions have already completed their sentences. For those whom ICE detains before deportation, it’s a triple punishment.

  • Governor Newsom has issued only 144 pardons since he entered office. Governor Brown once issued 143 pardons in a single week and issued over 1,300 pardons during his two terms.

  • A pardon is the most potent form of clemency a governor can grant and a vital tool to remedy an overly punitive and racially disproportionate criminal legal system for citizens and noncitizens alike.
